Parent-Child Dedication

Cross Points Church Parent Child Dedication is about a commitment to put Jesus first in your home and to place your trust in Him as the source of direction as you lead your family and parent your child.

This is the time for you and your family to share with your closest friends and family what is most important to you and to ask them for their prayers and support. It is also an opportunity for Cross Points and its people to affirm our public commitment to do our part in partnering with parents in support of their children. It is also a time of CELEBRATION! Together we want to thank God for your children and pray for God’s blessings on you and your children during the morning worship service.

PARENT COMMITMENTS

During the dedication service, parents promise before God, their family, and the church to raise their child in a God-honoring way. Because parents are the key role models for their children, we ask that they commit to the following before dedicating their child:

Parent(s) have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Parent(s) are regular attenders of Cross Points weekend services and are following Christ in their own life.

Parent(s) agree with our church’s beliefs and values, which can be found in our about page.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Do I need to be a member to dedicate my child?

You do not need to be a member of Cross Points Church to dedicate your child. We do ask that families call Cross Points home because in dedicating your child to God, you are stating that you are willing to partner with God and the Church to raise your child in cooperation with God’s intentions. As your church family, we are here to partner with you as the body of Christ and support you as a family unit.

Is Dedication the same as Baptism?

We believe that baptism is a public profession of faith that someone makes after salvation. Once an individual has made a personal decision to follow Jesus, their next step in faith is to be baptized.

Parent/Child Dedication is a ceremony, where parents formally call upon God’s blessing for their child and publicly commit to raising him or her in accordance with Scripture.

What should I expect for Parent/Child Dedication?

Parent/Child dedication will take place after worship on a  Sunday morning service. During this time, parents publicly commit to helping their child grow in their faith and to raising them in a home-centered on Jesus. One of our pastors will share a brief challenge with the parents, pray over each family, and present a Bible to each child.
