Recap:
We kicked off Super Sunday celebrating life change, baptisms, families dedicating their kids, moments that matter. And then we shifted our focus for just a moment.
Because right now, the world is watching something incredible, humanity traveling farther than ever before through missions like Artemis. Billions of dollars. The most powerful rocket ever built. Precise calculations. And yet, all of it rests on one core assumption:
That there is order in the universe.
NASA can launch astronauts hundreds of thousands of miles into space because they trust that the laws of the universe will hold. That gravity will do what it’s always done. That order will remain.
And here’s what’s fascinating, the Bible opens with the exact opposite picture. Genesis 1 says the earth was formless and empty. Darkness covered the deep waters. Chaos. Void. A cosmic wilderness. And then, God doesn’t run from it. The Spirit of God hovers over it. From the very beginning, the role of the Holy Spirit is clear: He takes chaos and creates order. Not just in the universe, but in you.
Because if we’re honest, a lot of us walked in carrying some chaos. Maybe it’s anxiety. Maybe it’s fear. Maybe it’s that quiet emptiness you can’t quite explain. And the message is simple but powerful: God is not distant from your chaos, He hovers over it. Just like a parent hovering over a child, guiding, protecting, nurturing, God moves toward your mess, not away from it. He sees what’s broken, what’s out of order, and He says, “Let me bring life to that.”
That’s what the Bible calls shalom, not just peace as in “no problems,” but peace as in “the way things were meant to be.” And the only way to experience that kind of peace is to invite the Holy Spirit in. Because He won’t force His way into your life. He waits for an invitation. This isn’t just about your inner life, this touches every part of your life.Your finances, your work, your relationships.
We talked about Bezalel in Exodus, filled with the Spirit of God, given wisdom and skill to take raw materials and turn them into something beautiful. That’s what God wants to do with what you have.Whether you feel like you have a lot or barely enough, He can take what feels chaotic and bring order, purpose, and even beauty to it.
We talked about Moses, overwhelmed, burned out, ready to quit. And what did he do? He cried out, “God, I can’t do this.” And God responded, not by removing the burden, but by bringing help. By filling others with His Spirit to come alongside him. Because God doesn’t just bring internal peace, He brings external support. He orders your world. And that’s what baptism represents. It’s a moment where someone says, “I can’t, but God can.”
“I’m inviting the Holy Spirit into my broken, messy life.”
And in that surrender, God meets them with power, with peace, with new life. And for those who follow Jesus, we experience that peace now, but not fully yet. Because one day, everything changes.
Revelation says there will be a new heaven and a new earth, and the sea will be no more. Not because there won’t be water, but because chaos, death, and destruction will be gone forever. No more anxiety. No more pain. No more disorder. Just peace. Just joy. Just the fullness of life as it was always meant to be. And that’s the invitation today. Not just someday, but right now. If the Spirit can bring order to the universe, He can bring order to your life. But you have to let Him in.
So the question is simple: Are you ready to let go of control? Are you ready to surrender your chaos? Because Jesus stepped into your mess, went to the cross, defeated sin and death, and now offers you peace. Real peace, Lasting peace, Transforming peace.
And all you have to do is say yes.
