Recap:
Over the past few months, we’ve been walking through Rooted—a deep dive into what it truly means to follow Jesus. We’ve talked about identity, sin, redemption, and grace. We’ve explored the healing, peace, and purpose that come with surrendering our lives to Christ. And today, we shift gears—not away from grace, but into the responsibility that comes with it.
Because if you call Jesus your Lord, then you’re also called to share Him.
This isn’t a spiritual suggestion—it’s a sacred assignment. Jesus didn’t just die to save you. He died to send you. Matthew 28:19 isn’t optional. Mark 16:15 isn’t just for missionaries. It’s for you. It’s for Shawnee. It’s for your gym buddy, your co-worker, your neighbor upstairs, your brother who’s still running. You’re not just invited into God’s family—you’re enlisted into His mission.
And let’s be honest—when you experience something life-changing, you talk about it. Whether it’s a restaurant with steak-on-swords or a show like The Office, you don’t keep it to yourself. You rave. You invite. You tell the story like nobody else could possibly get it until they experience it too.
That’s the burden of the soul.
Not the crushing weight of life’s hardships—that’s the burden Jesus says He’ll carry for you. But the holy burden? The ache to see someone you love come alive in Christ? That’s a weight worth carrying.
In Mark 2, four men literally rip open a roof to bring their paralyzed friend to Jesus. Why? Because they believed that one encounter with Jesus would change everything. That’s the kind of faith that moves mountains. Or in this case—tiles and timbers.
And when Jesus saw their faith, not the paralyzed man’s, their faith, He forgave. He healed. He restored. Because your faith doesn’t just impact your life—it can transform someone else’s.
So what does it look like to live with that kind of burden today?
Five Ways to Share Your Faith:
- With Your Words – Don’t underestimate the power of a simple invitation. “Want to come to church with me?” could lead to generations being changed.
- With Your Attitude – Joy, kindness, patience—these speak louder than sermons. People notice when your life is different. Let your love reflect His.
- With Your Persistence – Keep loving. Keep showing up. Even when they say “no.” You never know what door your consistency might open.
- With Your Prayer – Prayer is a form of evangelism. D.L. Moody prayed for 100 friends every day—and God answered. Who are you carrying in prayer?
- With Your Table – Sometimes the gospel begins with dinner. Invite someone to sit at your table—not with an agenda, but with authenticity. Relationship can pave the way for revelation.
Church, this city doesn’t just need better production or smoother sermons. It needs a people with hearts on fire. A people so burdened for the lost that they’ll dig through roofs, walk miles, and fight through fear just to get one more soul to Jesus.
Let’s be that church.
Because if someone is going to leap into hell… may they have to climb over us to get there.
Let’s carry them.
Let’s share Him.
Let’s live with the burden of the soul.

- If someone looked at your life from the outside, what would they say you’re passionate about?
Discussion Questions
Reflecting on the Message:
- Over the past few months in Rooted, we’ve explored identity, sin, redemption, and grace.
Which theme has impacted you the most—and why? - This week we heard that grace doesn’t just save you—it sends you.
What’s your reaction to that statement? Does it excite you? Challenge you? Convict you? - Read Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:15.
How do you personally respond to the idea that the Great Commission is for every believer—not just pastors or missionaries? - The sermon mentioned that when something changes your life, you naturally share it.
Why do you think it can be harder to talk about Jesus than it is to talk about a favorite show or restaurant?
Digging Deeper:
- Read Mark 2:1–5.
- What do you notice about the friends’ determination?
- What does this say about the impact of our faith on others?
- Who carried you to Jesus at some point in your life?
- The message shared five ways to share your faith: Words, Attitude, Persistence, Prayer, Table.
Which one comes easiest for you? Which one challenges you the most—and why? - The sermon ended with a bold line:
“If someone is going to leap into hell… may they have to climb over us to get there.”
How does that kind of urgency change the way you think about evangelism?
Application + Prayer:
- Who are the people in your life you’re praying for to encounter Jesus?
Take time to write down 1–2 names. - What’s one step you can take this week to reflect the heart of Jesus toward that person? (e.g., a prayer, a text, an invite, a meal)
Close your time by praying by name for those people. Ask God to soften hearts, open doors, and give you boldness.
