Day 7 – Selfish Living
Psalm 143
Selfishness puts our desires at the center of life.
But repentance moves us from self-direction to Spirit-direction.
The psalmist ends with this prayer:
“Teach me to do your will… may your good Spirit lead me.”
READ
Psalm 143:1-12
REFLECT
Where have I followed my own desires instead of the Spirit’s leading?
REPENT
Lord, I confess the ways I have lived for myself.
I confess the decisions I made based on comfort, convenience, or self-interest rather than obedience. (Be specific)
Holy Spirit, lead me on level ground.
Align my desires with God’s will.
RECEIVE
Titus 3:5
“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.”
One last thought…
One thing many Christians misunderstand:
Repentance is not the opposite of joy.
Repentance is the pathway to joy.
David said:
“Restore to me the joy of your salvation.” (Psalm 51:12)
Confession removes the barrier so joy can return.
When we tell God the truth about our sin,
He tells us the truth about His grace.
Thank God for His TRUTH and GRACE!
