Europe’s ethnic diversity, strong nationalisms and large migratory movements are a major factor in hindering stability and cooperation. There are over 1,000 distinct people groups within Europe. Yet within all of this, the European Union is forging ahead with 15 member states.

The European Union is an economic and political confederation of European nations, and other organizations (with the same member nations) that are responsible for a common foreign and security policy and for cooperation on justice and home affairs. The EU is also introducing the Euro Currency into circulation by 2002.

Secular humanism has been a dominating force in European Society. This philosophy has corrupted every part of its culture - art, music, social values, morality and theology. The decline in church going has been so disastrous that only about one tenth of Europe’s population are regular worshippers in a church. Despite these gloomy statistics, freedom of religion is realized in most of Europe. For the first time in history there is freedom to propagate one’s faith, to change religion and worship unhindered. Residual legal restrictions, however, remain in a few countries.

The sudden disappearance of the Iron Curtain that had divided Europe for nearly half a century was a dramatic answer to prayer! Communism’s sordid reality has been vividly portrayed and millions once tyrannized are still seeking spiritual solutions!
