It excites me to be the first to introduce to you the new Children’s Ministry of Cross Points Church:

go!!!!!

children’s ministry

The Great Commission given to each Believer could not be clearer…to go into all the world and make disciples. At Cross Points Church that is our goal with every child that comes into the ministry. We want them to have a great time, but we also want them to experience new life in Christ and be able to share their faith with others!

Besides just a new name and logo, there are other things that will be changing in the ministry too. Let me tell you about them now:

  1. New curriculum for all areas of ministry! This material will be easier to understand for kids, will have lots of great ‘object’ lessons to help them grasp the concepts we are teaching, and will cross all parts of pre-k through elementary ministry.

What that means is whatever area of ‘go’ your child is in; they will be learning the same story, same Bible verse, and same concept as the other children. This will allow you to have a whole-family conversation about what your kids learned in church, and enable you to be more involved in the spiritual development of your children!

  1. We will be starting a brand new Children’s Ministry Service in January of 2012! This new format will start at 10:05 each Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. All kids in pre-k through 6th grade will start out together for an introduction to the day, offering time, prayer time, and a game. Then the little kids will break off into their usual group for teaching specifically for them, while older elementary-aged kids will remain in the Fellowship Hall. We will have worship, skits, prayer times, Bible Drills, and object lessons that will apply to each child on their level. Every 5th Sunday (4 times a year) will be “Service Sundays” and all kids in pre-k through grade 6 will attend the adult service. This time will allow kids to engage in the worship experience with their families and will be used as a training time for Children’s Ministry staff. Nurseries will remain open.

  2. Wednesday Night LifeTools (when is session) will use the same materials and reinforce what kids learn about the previous Sunday. This will help kids really get what they’ve learned down inside of them!

  3. Each Sunday, as children come in, they’ll be given a plastic token. If they keep their token throughout the service, they will get to draw a prize from the prize bucket. Tokens can be lost for talking out of turn, being disruptive, not following directions, and not participating in activities. We want to encourage kids to engage in services, and let them know that it is worth it to learn about Jesus!

  4. Check-in will take place at the Children’s Ministry Info. Booth in the hallway near the nurseries. (We do hope to install a new check-in station outside the Fellowship Hall). You will still use the sticker tags. We will also be creating an attendance roster for each week that will help us stay in contact better with families!

  5. In going to an all-service format, we will close the children’s ministry services at 10:20 each morning for the safety of the kids and to minimize disruptions. That means that no children will be admitted to services after 10:20 a.m.. Families coming in late will be able to pick up the weekly take-home page at the main Information Booth in the foyer of the church, and will keep their children with them during service. As an aid to parents, the south nursing mothers room (closest to the coffee shop) will become a “family” room as of January, meaning fathers and older children can utilize the room as well. There will be activity pages and a small assortment of toys kept in the room to engage young children while parents listen to the sermon.

These are some big changes, but know that we are working hard to make the Children’s Ministry the best it can be and to provide a great experience for families. You’ll be hearing more about these changes in the coming months, but as always, if you have any specific questions, please feel free to call me or e-mail me at the church office. More Than Just Services
Finally, the Children’s Ministry offers children the opportunity to experience increased spiritual growth as they learn how to reach out to others and share God’s love.

Camps

Summer is an exciting time to enjoy the camp experience. As available, we take groups to Camp Dry Gulch and other exciting places to experience fun, and God, on a whole new level.  Camps are a great place for children to have fun and learn valuable life lessons as they develop quality friendships and participate in a variety of activities.

Special Events

Special events and big days throughout the year - including Easter Egg Hunts, concerts, movie nights, Carnivals and more - provide kids with opportunities to invite friends and family to join them in their journey of spiritual growth.

Outreach

Kid-friendly missions work and community service are also wonderful ways for children to develop social awareness and discover the value of helping others in need. Both local and regional opportunities are available and are specifically designed for safety and age-appropriateness.

Life offers many transitions. At Cross Points Church, we know that change can be both exciting and a little scary for children and their parents. To alleviate the challenges, our children and youth ministries work together to ensure that the transition is not only smooth, but also a fun growth experience. Yearly Promotion Sundays, as well as special appearances by the Youth Worship Band and Pastoral Staff, highlight their progress and recognize their achievements, while also introducing kids to the next phase of their development. Open House events help students and parents learn more about programs and opportunities for involvement. These transition points, as well as year-round efforts by the individual ministries, help both visitors and members meet the ministry leaders and get connected at Cross Points Church.

Back-2-School Bash 2012

On August 12, 2012 Cross Points Church will host its 3rd annual Back-2-School Bash during the Sunday Morning service at 10 a.m.. This event is a community outreach, which helps Cross Points accomplish its mission of promoting "Healthy Families, Caring Relationships, Serving Communities'.

In 2011 the church donated 234 backpacks filled with school supplies to children whose families had lost jobs or were in a place of financial hardship. Cross Points also gave away 16 laptop computers to those in grades 7-12 who needed them for educational purposes but could not afford them. That day, over 40 people responded to the alter call before the resources were given away, and 18 people gave their lives to the Lord for the first time!

As we prepare for 2012, we are looking to reach as many people as possible through this special outreach event, and we need your help. Your donation of either school supplies or money (designated B2SB on your check or envelope) will help us as we strive to reach our goal of 250 backpacks and 20 laptops this year.

We are starting early, to provide you with the opportunity to pray and consider your involvement. You can help in many small ways:
  • buy some school supplies every time you are at your favorite retailer. Even if you spend only $5 per trip, those supplies will add up!
  • donate a gift card to a retail store that can be used to purchase supplies.
  • donate an extra $5-10 per month along with your tithe (designated B2SB on the check memo or envelope). These donations would add up quickly!
  • consider taking a Back-2-School Bash flyer to a store manager and asking for a donation
  • post Back-2 School bash flyers on community bulletin boards, and on community calendars for your favorite media outlets.
  • personally invite someone to sign up for the Back-2-School Bash who could use the supplies (Sign ups start June 17).
  • pray for the success of the event, and for people to be touched.
The flyers for Back-2-School Bash will be available for distribution at the beginning of June. Sign ups for those needing to receive school supplies will start June 17. People will be able to sign up through the website or by calling the church office.

There are so many people who are in need of help and support, and the Back-2-School Bash is one way that Cross Points Church is able to touch the community we're in through a tangible expression of God's Love. Please consider getting involved and making a donation now!

If you or your business are interested in being more involved in partnering with us for this event, though a larger donation, please contact the Church office and ask for Pastor Devin. The cost to provide these supplies is great, and we need people of faith who are passionate about outreach to support us in this outreach. If you are interested in making a donation of $250 or more, please contact us here:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

In our first two years, we've given away 450 backpacks and 32 computers. 50 people have responded to the alter call with 22 committing their lives to the Lord for the first time. What will God do in 2012??? Lets find out together!
