Our Beliefs

Cross Points Church is an interdenominational, Spirit-filled church that is evangelical in doctrine and charismatic in worship and ministry. We strive to blend the heritage of historical Christianity with the innovative creativity of a contemporary church.

Vision Statement

Our vision is “Glorifying God . . . transforming the world”.

Mission Statement

Caring Relationships: To provide a place that encourages meaningful relationships in the Spirit of Christ.

Healthy Families: To create a culture where singles find fulfillment, marriages are strengthened and parents are effective as we build our lives on God’s word.

Serving Communities: To engage our local and international community by expressing God’s grace, love and kindness.

Values

Servant Leadership

Our church is a place where there is shared ministry among a team of leaders. While those who have demonstrated Godly character and integrity, and clearly possess leadership gifts should lead the church, servanthood is the goal of all leadership and ministry.

Believer Ministry

Our church is a place where servant leaders equip believers to do the work of the ministry resulting in fulfillment and growth. As believers discover their God-given gifts and then release them for God to use, they will find significance and purpose in life. Christianity should never be a spectator sport.

Relational Evangelism

Our church is a place where the relationships with the unchurched are promoted and valued. Believers should always be alert to the opportunity to communicate the life-changing message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Christian Self-image

Our church is a place where believers understand that they cannot earn God’s acceptance, but are freely accepted because of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the church should never utilize guilt or legalism to motivate its members, but rather should encourage them to live Godly lives purely motivated by their love for God.

Biblical Authority

Our church is a place where the Bible is the authoritative spiritual guide, viewed as the Word of God, and should always take precedence over any church tradition or human opinion. The ministry of God’s Word is the catalyst for transforming an individual's life and should be given priority in every believer's personal and corporate life.

Cross-cultural Missions

Our church is a place where the cause of world evangelism is vigorously and faithfully pursued with a commitment to ministering cross-culturally, especially among the unreached peoples of the world. All believers should be world-class Christians, having a heart to share Christ with cultures other than their own.

Overall Balance

Our church is a place where balance, authenticity, integrity, and excellence should permeate every area of church life and relationship. Meeting people's needs should be more important than maintaining programs.

Small Groups

Our church is a place where small groups of believers are the accepted means of reaching the lost, cultivating relationships, expressing gifts, stimulating spiritual growth, developing leaders, and experiencing life change. We are committed to the small group as the primary building block of the church.

Genuine Relationships

Our church is a place where healthy and loving relationships are considered indispensable to spiritual formation and growth. We should relate to each other as a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural blend of God’s people whose focus is not on social, economic, racial, or gender distinctions, but rather on the beauty of expressing God through a diverse body of believers.

Worship & Prayer

Our church is a place where there is a commitment to exuberant and celebrative worship (free but always orderly), to the expression of spiritual gifts (to build up the body and evangelize the lost), and to continual prayer (both intimate and strategic). Worship should never surrender to fanaticism, spiritual gifts should never violate scripture, and expressed joy should never be substituted or mistaken for a healthy, stable and obedient relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Statement of Faith

  1. We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority by which all human opinions, creeds, or conducts shall be tried and judged.

  2. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born to the Virgin Mary, and is both true God and true man.

  3. We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and, in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, manifest themselves as sinners in thought, word, and deed.

  4. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His precious blood shed on Calvary's cross.

  5. We believe every person should be water baptized by immersion, as commanded by our Lord, following his/her conversion to Christ. Water baptism is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39). We respect our brethren who hold another view on the mode of baptism.

  6. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has ascended into heaven and ever lives to intercede for us as our High Priest.

  7. We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ, the personal return of our Lord and Savior.

  8. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, those who have done good unto the resurrection of life and those who have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:29)

  9. We believe that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a second experience subsequent to salvation for believers who have already been born again. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit anoints the child of God with power to witness and with supernatural strength to live the resurrected life. We believe that all 25 gifts of the Holy Spirit should be operating in each local church today, even as they did in the early church. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

  10. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord are born again of the Holy Spirit and have become children of God and members of the Body of Christ. We desire to have fellowship with all those who are born again and who love to praise His holy name.

  11. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
